The Topeka High School MCJROTC program was established in 1995.

MCJROTC is funded and sponsored by the Secretary of the Navy. It is a four year academic course of instruction that is divided into the following subject areas: leadership tenets; physical fitness and health; drill and ceremonies; military organization and orientation; and marksmanship.

The curriculum is designed to accomplish the following goals: to develop informed and responsible citizens; to build character; to develop habits of self-discipline and personal responsibility; to develop a respect and understanding for the Constitution and our democratic society; and to acquire an understanding of the basic elements of national security.

The Navy Department's core values of courage, honor, and commitment permeate the curriculum and influence the personal actions and daily behavior of all cadets. Cadets are expected to uphold the core values at all times.

There are one-hundred seventy-six cadets in the program. They represent a wide variety of interests and talents; they also represent Topeka High School and the United States Marine Corps through public service and ceremonial events.
